As a follow up to another question, is it true that the offerings to Mary are idolatry?

We have a tradition over here with little chapels where there are statuettes of Mary and where people can leave offerings to have good fortune or spiritual support or whatnot. Some people on YA have said it is not true, but I can assure that it is the truth.

Is it only a local custom maybe, or only non-Americans do it ?As a follow up to another question, is it true that the offerings to Mary are idolatry?
Such chapels and statuettes exist all over the world, even in America. Offerings to Mary are pleasing to Jesus and are NOT idolatry. As a follow up to another question, is it true that the offerings to Mary are idolatry?
Your ';tradition'; sounds like superstition in which you are leaving food, or flowers, or other trinkets to a statue of Mary in order to have ';good fortune';. How is this different from Haitian voodoo? Answer: Except for the spitting of flaming alcohol, it's not.
From an Islamic perspective, it is idolatry.

It has been described as the biggest sin. To associate partners with God. What you are doing is offering things to a status (which can neither help you or respond to you) when you should be giving that worship to God alone.

It is the same, if someone worships a human being, saint, an object etc etc.. This is worshiping the creation instead of the creator.
It is idolatry.

The Scriptures do not sanction the use of images as a means to address God in prayer. Such a practice runs counter to the principle that those seeking to serve Jehovah must worship him with spirit and truth. (Joh 4:24; 2Co 4:18; 5:6,聽7) He tolerates no mixing of idolatrous practices with true worship, as is illustrated by his condemnation of calf worship, although the Israelites had attached his name thereto. (Ex 32:3-10) Jehovah does not share his glory with graven images.鈥擨sa 42:8.

There is not a single instance in Scripture where faithful servants of Jehovah resorted to the use of visual aids to pray to God or engaged in a form of relative worship.

Search the scriptures and you will find the answer. Mary was very important in God's purpose and she is the spoken as such in the Bible, but in no place does it say she intercedes for us, only Jesus interceeds for us before Jehovah.

(Luke 1:42) 42聽and she called out with a loud cry and said: 鈥淏lessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
Mary was a very blessed woman; worthy of birthing Christ, and that is it. She cannot get you to heaven; only Jesus can. If you want to give offerings or tithes give it to your church; put it in holy hands. One of the commandments is ';though shall not have any other gods before me.
Americans will leave flowers at Marian statues to show respect. It would be like leaving flowers on a relatives grave. Just a symbolic act of keeping someone in high regard.
It is obviously worship when a person kneels before a stone statue and talks to it.
turn to the lord in need,

and you will live
yes we can pray without statues..It is disturbing.
