Need to know if this is true? its a question about the royalmarines?

a friend of mine whos in the navy said that my chances of being deployed to afghanistan after basic training will be very unlikely because the marines have a wide variety of jobs across different parts of the world where they are needed, also most of the time i will be doing extra training.

i know the training part is true, but is it true that its unlikely for the royal marines to be deployed to afghanistan.

also how many royal marines are currently in afghanistan?

thanks.Need to know if this is true? its a question about the royalmarines?
Yes! The Royals are currently In Afghanistan, but that does not mean that you will be going. The Royal Marines are carrying out Combat duties all over the World and if they are not fighting then they are in training.

Just be prepared to go where you are ordered and be proud that you belong to the very best in the World. No other unit comes even close to the Royal Marines (despite what the Yanks will tell you)Need to know if this is true? its a question about the royalmarines?
Luke,

There are so many variables involved that it's almost impossible to give accurate odds of a deployment early on in your career.

Take a personal view that the odds could be 50/50, prepare yourself both mentally and physically for those odds and then when it comes to the actual time when that decision may be made, you'll hopefully be in the right frame of mind for it (or not lol)!!!!

It does happen, bare that in mind!!!!
