why do women bleed for 4 days at a time and not die? that is a good question because if we cut our arm and it bleeds for 4 days we could die. but when aunt flo drops by we don't die? its kinda weird, isn't it?My husband asked me a weird but true question?

Menstrual blood is a different kind of blood. Throughout your cycle, your body is preparing itself to be ready incase you get pregnant. The walls of your uterus line with nutrients to help any eggs that get fertilized. But this wall of nutrients gets old and stale after a month or so, so every month you ';bleed out'; the lining so your body can make a new one for the next egg that's released. Your period is that lining coming out, plus the egg that was released that month but not fertilized (think of it as expired). It's not actual blood like your heart pumps.
Menstrual flow drips out slowly and is actually a mixture of blood, mucus and body cells amounting to about 6 to 9 tablespoons. An adult has about 5 liters of blood flowing through their body.
